A simple, transparent process — from selection to delivery.
Expanders® units are designed to remove the delays and complexity of traditional building. Our process is straightforward, guided, and built around clarity at every step.
Step 1 — Design01
Select your floor plan, colours & upgrades
Pick the size and layout that suits your site, then choose your cladding, frame colour, flooring, benchtop and any add-ons. We’ll note every customisation so nothing is missed.

Step 4 — Live04
Delivered and ready to move in
We transport your unit to site and have it expanded, connected and ready to live in — typically in under one day. You just turn the key.
NZ & Pacific delivery
HIAB or crane offload
Ready in under one day
On-site install
From truck to turn-key — usually in a day.
Every Expanders® unit arrives finished internally, ready to be unfolded and connected. The Studio works the same way, except it slides out rather than folding open.
On-site 01
Delivered by HIAB
Your unit arrives on a HIAB truck and is craned straight onto your prepared foundations — or onto a trailer if you're taking it further afield. Most sites are unloaded in under an hour.
On-site 02
Unfolded & fitted out
Our install team unfolds the unit (or slides it out for the Studio), then builds in the cabinetry, applies flashings, and seals everything ready for the weather. The unit transforms from a container footprint into a fully-formed home in a matter of hours.
On-site 03
Connect power & water
Once fitted out, your unit is ready for your local sparky and plumber to connect to power, water and wastewater. Everything internal is pre-wired and pre-plumbed — connections are simple plug-in points.
On-site 04
Roof & veranda add-ons
If you've added a pitched roof, veranda or deck, these are installed at this stage to finish the exterior. Then you're ready to move in.
FAQs
Common questions
Straight answers to the things most customers ask before requesting a quote.
Is there council approval?
Expanders® supplies portable, self-contained living units. Placement, consent, and compliance requirements vary by council and intended use. We provide clear product specifications, supporting documentation, and guidance to help you understand your options. Customers are responsible for confirming suitability with local authorities where required.
How long does delivery take?
Lead times vary by model and availability but delivery can take up to 4 months. Some units may be available sooner as ready-to-deliver or clearance stock.
Can I customise my unit?
Yes. Optional upgrades can be discussed during the quoting stage.
Do you handle council consent?
We provide specifications and guidance but consent requirements depend entirely on your situation (location, use etc.).
